Méier is a neighborhood in Zona Norte (the northern area of Rio) about 11 kilometers northwest of downtown Rio. (By comparison Copacabana is about 8 km south of the downtown area.) When I lived there in 1971, Méier was a middle class neighborhood – several steps down in prestige from Zona Sul areas like Botofogo or Copacabana, but quite a few degrees above a place like Madureira. It can be reached by taxi or bus, but the fastest way to get there would be by train. A commuter rail line from the train terminal adjacent to the CENTRAL metro station stops in Méier. The Méier stop is adjacent to Rua Amaro Cavalcanti,

I have no knowledge of the Bruno-Meier cinema, but probably it operates in an old theater that once ran Hollywood movies.
