Here are a number of suggestions of things to do and see for the happy travellers who are down in Rio:

Saturday 21st - Banda de Ipanema, it starts at around 4 p.m. in Praça General Osório in Ipanema, it's free and whomever wants to participate it is just to follow the crowd. People dance in the streets and after it reaches Farme de Amoedo on the way back, the gay crowd stops there and men really get wild, kissing, rubbing on each other, bjs etc... It's definitely a must on Saturday.

Sunday 22nd - Samba school Parade, it starts at 9 p.m., and it's the most fascinating show on Earth. But you've got to have the tickets to attend.

Monday 23rd - Aside from the Samba schools parade that also starts at 11 p.m., you must check Banda Foliões da Farme, that stays in Rua Farme de Amoedo starting at 3 p.m. The same things that you see in Banda de Ipanema, you will see here.

Tuesday 24th - Gay Ball at 11 p.m. This is Rio's best gay ball, famous nationwide. A must if you want to see exotic costumes, cruise and kiss. Tickets must be bought before the ball, because on the day it's impossible to get it there.

Saturday 28th - Champions parade starts at 8 p.m., here we will be able to see the 6 top schools that paraded on Sunday and Monday.

Aside from that Le Boy has balls everyday, but it's more for a younger gay crowd, and you can always go to Cinelândia in downtown where there will popular balls (in the streets) every single day.

Enjoy your Carnival in Rio and don't do anything that I wouldn't do;-)

Carnival in Rio: one last suggestion

I forgot to mention the daily Carnival Balls that are being held at Elite. Elite is a straight dancing club throughout the year, but during Carnival it becomes gay. It's really exciting seeing all those naked torsos having fun in a packed and hot ballroom, everybody rubbing their trades on each other, and people upstairs getting with it. It's in Elite where you can see the wild practice of "foquinha" (little seal).

This is the type of place that Gringo certainly loves... men of all ages, and of all social ranks, not as touristy as Le Boy.

Once again, enjoy your Carnival in Rio and do play safe...;-)
