Brall, dig into those archives. The men gave suggestions to me regarding places to stay in Salvador; also they recommended a sauna which starts with a "P"! The actual name is Termas Persona, Rua Augusto Franco, 22 Doris de Julho , 322-7979.

(I hope this info is accurate; I had two addresses and two telephone numbers written: the second one is 230 Junqueyra Ayres 230 Barris Salvador, 5571 329-1273.

Another respondent wrote at length in the archives about many features of Salvador. "Check it out! ...smooth traveling to you, man! When I was in Rio last week, more than one person told me that I would like Salvador. I do plan to return to complete what I didn't on my very first visit to Brazil. Right now I think I am going in March of 2003.

If I hadn't aborted the remainder of my trip, I would be on my way to Salvador today 17.10.02 staying at Monte Pascoal Salvador in Barra near the beach.

For your convenience, here is what I posted about Salvador:

I'll be taking my first trip to Brazil (including Salvador)

in December and here is my composite of everything I have

found on the Internet about Salvador. (I did not save the

attributions when I compiled this, so my apologies to Tri

and to anyone else whose words are quoted below without

credit.) As you can see, I only came across a couple of

specific sauna comments.

Cheers, Billy :)

Gay information is available from Centro Cultura (Triângulo Rosa; Tel. 243-4903), Rua do Sodré 45, which is close to the Museu de Arte Sacra da Bahia. Publishes a $4 guide to Salvador's gay scene – Guia para Gays.

In Salvador, get a gay guide from Grupo Gay da Bahia. Their offices are right in the Pelourinho at the bottom of a hill, next to a theater.

Another edited comment:

"There are bars and saunas on Rua Carlos Gomes and in Barra. The men are nice in general, but very helpful here to speak Portuguese... A lot of Salvador men walk around in what approximated boxer shorts and flipflops— lean, muscled, and endowed."
