I am going back to Mexico City for the first time in 3 yrs, but I have read here before that many of the bars in the Zona Rosa area have been closed? Can anyone give me an update. I am afraid I can't remember many of the names, but there was one stip club as part of a large disco, with a tunnel like entrance? Does anyone know the bar and if it is still open.

 

Any advice on strip clubs especially appreciated, and escorts as well.

It is open on Florencia; 50 pesos to get in. Drinks are expensive, but you get "show all" dancers twice a night. DO NOT even TRY to touch. Also Cabaretito is open, with Internet and a dance floor, plus a tranny show at midnight. Only $30 to get in and really cheap brand bottle beer. I was there rather early (7PM) and the crowd was too "Cocacola" for me -- prepubescent gay couples and properly attired lezbos.

I live here in Mexico City, and although am not a real expert on strip bars, I hope this helps....one place you may want to check out is Clandestine, Colon 1, Alameda Central, which is just outside of the Zona Rosa. Tom's Leather Bar, which is not hard core and welcomes everyone, is on Insurgentes Sur 351, not far from the Zona Rosa either, and has strippers on weekends. Strippers are all available for more...just show some interest and take it from there. As far as escorts go, check out the review for Arnol Ramses on this site, I wrote the first one, and recommend him. Although I haven't seen him for a year or more, he tends to change his look, so you may want to ask him for some recent pictures. He really is 9", along with being a really nice guy. Last time I was in Mexico City, in early July 2002, El Taller's back room was closed. I presume they had encountered some problems with the homophobic police and judiciary. However, their upstairs (first floor) bar had reopened. It was almost as cruisy as downstairs!

The bar you referred to (tunnel with strippers) which was called El Antro, closed over a year ago.

 

El Taller on Calle Florencia is open and doing well. And, as another poster indicated, there are some cute guys there that are available for rent.

 

Pick up a copy of Boys & Toys from one of the newstands in the Pink Zone. Since the bars tend to open and close quite frequently, that's the most reliable indicator of what is open.

 

And if you're looking for an escort in Mexico, try Franco. I posted a review in July. He's quite spectacular!

Does El Taller still have a back room? I remember it well. No one paid me any attention in the bar area, but in the br I was very popular. Of course, that was a while ago....;-)

I am back from Mexico and have to say that I was a good boy for once. Pity but the whole scene is pretty limited there. And the altitude can really suck out your energy! Still it is a beautiful city and the people are very friendly, just be a bit careful.
