After reading this board for almost eight months, it appears that a few of us respondents plan to be in Brasil during the spring. Who's going, and how long do you plan to stay? Remember last week, or perhaps it was two weeks ago, I had a serious thread regarding meeting up (not in packs), but the thread went in varying directions. Very few writers were serious; there seemed to be an inordinate amount of repartee and the vying of some type of invisible prize on the part of many of the writers.

Do take this question seriously, please!

A popular escort whom I knighted "writer laureate" at this site stated to me that I tended to be a serious one and to view his words with an air of caution. Should I had not viewed the writing to which I alluded in the same manner? I don't want this answered as much as what the thread is about. (I KNOW-- no preps. at the end of a sentence... This is one of my pet peeves, too, along with "Where is it AT?" When I hear teachers of English use this, I am almost ready to crawl under the floor!)

Please excuse the slight digression!!

I am definitly going to Rio the third week of Oct. There are two other guys that I know of that are going at that time also. I was there last Oct at the same time and it was perfect weather every day, 82 to 85 during the day and 70 at night, not a lot humidity.

Hi, Axiom,

I, too, agree that many on this site prefer to spar and bicker instead of addressing the topic at hand. Play nice, boys. :-)

I will be in Rio from October 6th-16th, staying in Copacabana at the Olinda Othon Hotel. I feel it would be cool to touch bases with anyone else who will also be there around that time to compare notes regarding the men, hotels, restaurants, men, city sights, bars, men, beaches, shopping, men........ A drink at a club or sharing a snack at a cafe might be fun. I have never been to Rio and am really excited about going. I've done quite alot of research and have been studying Portuguese. If anyone who will be in Rio in October wants to touch bases, my email address is: Robbguy1001@aol.com. Thanks. Robb

Hey Axiom, I, too, will be in Rio during October...around the same time as Robb. Right now I have two windows from which to choose...October 8-15 or October 11-17. I'm still trying to nail down accomdations but the Olinda sounds like a good bet for me, too. It would be great to be able to check in with like minded guys to compare notes and maybe enjoy a meal or some drinks together. Let us know your plans.

Thank guy/s! My time frame right now is 8 October until (I think) around the 28-30--almost a month. I shall be contacting via this forum or through emails if obtained or left here or your contacting me. I have yet to master how to contact a respondent via this site.

  • 2 weeks later...

It has finally become official unless there are unforeseen complications between now and then. I just booked and paid for my flight to Brazil. I plan to travel from October 8 until the 28th which will give me approximately twenty-one days. I will fly to Rio and leave from Sao Paulo (Thanks, Tri!)

Next I'll make my hotel reservations and go from there! I'm excited; my relatives and friends are enthusiastic, too! Thanks to all who've given outstanding advice and suggestions. That now leaves with going back into the ARCHIVES and reading books and pursuing this experience so that it contain some modicum of sanity and adventure.
