Ok, I couldn't resist trying to rate myself. I tired, and yo and behold, the new software allows this!

This was soooo much fun, I tried to rate myself again. Bummer, that didn't work.

Well, at least I don't have to worry about going blind from "rating myself" too much :)

Sometimes life gives us too many choices. And, I guess, software is life these days. While I am always thrilled to locate a new vehicle that permits me to judge other people, this one confuses me.

Just what are the criteria? I do not know. In the absence of guidance from our esteemed moderators, may I suggest a few?

1. Using a nickname that in any way annoys me. This category includes handles I do not understand and/or ones which I find silly, childish or in any way distasteful. As we rate each other, I would suggest that we all Beware of Nicks.

2. Injudicious use of emoticons. Do you like to read a messages that are splattered with yellow circles in totally random patterns? Me neither. They make a post look like the first attempt at a bad Impressionist painting. Fortunately, our thoughtful moderators have given us still another option. We can now click on a box at the bottom of our posts that says "Check here if you DO NOT wish to use emoticons in your message." I have not yet found the courage to take this unnervingly irrevocable step. May you find the inner strength to do so.

3. Splitting infinitives. I intend to exhaustively search every post to make sure that this abhorrent practice stops.

4. Disagreeing with anything I say. This is perhaps the most important criterion. My thoughtful posts are laden with universal truths that should not be criticized but rather jotted down for later reflection. Please don't hate me just because I'm uniquely qualified to cast the first stone.

Have a nice day. :)

Cute. Just one clarification:

<<Fortunately, our thoughtful moderators have given us still another option. We can now click on a box at the bottom of our posts that says "Check here if you DO NOT wish to use emoticons in your message.">>

The DCForum software that runs the message center is produced by a vendor that is independent of this site. Moderators have nothing to say about software features. :-)

Deej,

Your rating will now plunge:

1. We don't know what your nickname stands for.

2. You used an unnecessary emoticon.

3. Ok, you chose to wisely not split any infinitive - one good point.

4. EastWest Coast said it's the moderators and you dared defy him.

You are in deep trouble :)

Thank you, cmp (whatever that means :))

I tried to warn Deej. Now he must face the consequences!
