Only a Week?

I'm back after a short travel abroad. Coming back to the Message Center after a week seems like returning home after an absence of 10 years. The house hase been rebuilt, new rooms have been added and a heap of new appliances have been invented and implemented. The neighbors' front gates have been redone with a host of cool ornaments, shiny stars, pictures and ratings (none of them on *my* front gate though ) (just joking, I don't really care about that). Also, one of our best neighbors here, Andy, has tragically passed away while on vacation, at the young age of only 31, I was in deep shock reading about it. It's funny how I have grown to regard this community as my third home (my job is my second one).

 

What else? I couldn't wait to read Mike Stefano's updates. I'm so happy to see this sweet, smart kid is hanging in tight. I was thinking of him every day while away, worrying that something could happen to him while I was not here to look out for him. Of course this is so stupid, as I cannot protect him by being logged on here from thousands of miles away, but anyway, that's how I felt and as we all know, feelings have nothing to do with reasoning.

 

I'm glad IM_Moore is beginning to feel better. Hang in tight and don't stop putting up a fight to cope with your problem. Try to talk to us about it again, in spite of this running contrary to your nature. This could actually help you, at least to a small extent.

 

You have all been good kids, it looks like you have stopped beating up each other (or else the few troublemakers may be away right now). Anyway, I'm happy to come back to a peaceful home.

 

TT thinks Bucky's generosity, good-hearted nature and optimism are a liability rather than an asset. Oh well.

 

Trilingual's newest posts to the thread on Rio in the European Escorts section are highly recommended reading material. Thanks Tri, I'm only sad I cannot travel to Rio in the foreseeable future.

Thanks for the welcome message. I got my first rating! Thanks for that too. Now I only need one-two-five of those golden stars. How does one earn them? Is it through hard work, honesty and good citizenship, as our parents always taught us?

 

I have browsed those sites and spotted some yummy cuties. Most of them are quoting $100 for two hours, $200 overnight. You are right, one cannot use these sites without reading and understanding Russian. They should be catering to tourist $$$'s and put up some sites in English, both sides would be much better off that way.

Welcome back, Dude! I've been very preoccupied with a visit from a very special friend this weekend, and we really had the time of our life in NYC.

 

As for TT's negativity toward me, I really don't take it too seriously. His remarks about me were actually pretty funny. And I don't take the ratings thing all that seriously either. If someone I hold in high regard says something nice about me in the ratings, I appreciate it. If someone says something negative about me, I consider where it's coming from. Some guy named Cassius also posted something about my "sugar coated" messages, and that's ok. I don't ever even remember reading a regular post by this guy, so I sure haven't lost any sleep over it.

 

The message center meets some need for each of us who participate in it. Most of what I see is very positive, and some not so positive. But by in large, I can live with the negative. I'm more bothered when a guy like TT makes an unfair or harsh characterization of someone else I like here than if he chooses to have a go at me.

I have been trying to convince some of these agencies and individuals (whom I have met) to either employ a good university or grad student majoring in linguistics to work the English sections of their Bulletin Boards (such as at gay.ru) or even hire a competent bi-lingual computer expert to put up a user friendly (in English, French, German) web page.

 

Many of the escorts are in the military, trying to make some $$$ and their comand of English is limited (although what they do - for being "straight" would amaze anyone). Some in the agencies are university students and know English very well. Others are now free-lancing and also good in English (a few have regular jobs as translators for international companies or law firms, hotels, tourist industry).

 

The problem appears to be a "control" by some nefarious elements in Moscow of the escort business - and the fact that, despite the excellent rates and quality of many people, it is not yet an Amsterdam, Frankfort, Hamburg, London, Barcelona etc..

 

I will keep you posted as some sites change, which webmasters are promising to do soon.
