Planning a little R&R in Budapest and wonder what - if any - advice others here have. I am arranging things through Gay Tailored Tours but what else is available or can be helpful for a long weekend?

You're right, but if you pay for a gayromeo membership you can see the x-rated pictures. I should add that both Action Bar and Arkadia have a lot of rentboys, so you can look around in those bars. Action Bar also has a backroom. It's difficult not to have fun in Budapest.

So far my experience with GayTailoredTours is positive. They respond quickly and efficiently.

 

As for cost, they are expensive, especially as they have a few escorts who have quite a film career and so are ranked at a higher price by European standards. PLus, the prices appear more reasonable than the guys at BoysBudapest.com (odd as some are on both sites).

After a nice time relaxing in Budapest, I want to let you all know what I learned, and give some impressions for those thinking of going.

 

1) Price-wise, compared to most other European cities,I found Budapest quite reasonable. I stayed on the Pest side in a top class hotel where I had an excellent discount because of the length of stay. I discovered it helps to deal directly with the hotel chain to get a better price than through these discount internet places.

 

2) It is also worthwhile to check into things such as the Budapest Pass (for 2 or 3 days, discounts on many things including public transport). Be awae that tipping is much lower than we are used to in the US and Europe. One escort was great in giving me some rules on that point!!

 

3) By all means consider a tour guide or tour bus -- unless you are an exert linguist and know Hungarian, you would be lost. If you want to especially venture to the baths, bring an escort of guide along - or you may never find the way to the baths through the many up and down labyrinth passages.

 

Note that Hungary uses its own currency which is actually stronger than the Euro, which is a bit daunting... but the prices for services are reasonable once you figure it all out.

 

4) A word of of appreciation for Bob and Norbee of GayTailored Tours (GTT). They really made the trip worthwhile and they are very professional. I especially want to praise Norbee who had a lot on his plate but managed to do everything in a supurb, professional manner. They definately are worth the money.

 

I did check out both GTT as well as GayRomeo to find companions. One thing I discovered almost at the end is that many of these guys have multiple names and even silent agents who are the ones contacting you (in fairly good English) only to surprise you when you meet the escort standing there who can barely say "hello". So, if you want to talk... better to work through an agency, so that if it does not work out, you can call and complain!!!

 

Aside from enjoying Budapest by day, I met some fantastic men by night (okay... some by day too).

 

I think there was a real spectrum of the types of guys available, from known porn stars, to others who are physical trainers, and even one who told me he is a farmer. Hungarian escorts are generally very strongly muscled, and most do not shave their natural body hair, although nearly all trim or shave their groin area. Go figure? Now on costs... from the agency expect to pay Euros 350 for3 hours or Euros 650 for overnight. The others went from Euros 120/2 hours to 250-300 for 3 hours, and overnights ranging from 400-700 (so the agency for overnight was less).

 

I did have a day at the (normal, coed) baths with Norbee of GTT and that was very enjoyable - he speaks perfect English and is a very nice gentleman.

 

I did not do any of the night bar or club scenes. Knowing as little Hungarian as I do... it would have been a nightmare. I did notice the hotel where I stayed never raised an eyebrow with the traffic in and out - and the housemaid was terrific in keeping the bath supplied with clean towels.

My experience is that Gay Tailored Tours is more reliable. But you may find something else. Budapest Boys has a number of men who also advertise drectly on Gay Romeo, and you may find it easier - and cheaper - to contact them directly.

The difference between COMPANIONS and GUIDES is simple enough. A GUIDE will be a tour guide for you, attentive, knowledgeable, linguistically capable to explain the details of whatever tour you book (city exploration, saunas and baths, outside the city).

 

The COMPANION could have some of these skills, and in Gay Tailored Tours, many do), but will not necessarly be doing a night tour under the sheets with you. The Budapest Boys site claims their ESCORTS (COMPANIONS) double as GUIDES, but unless you are fluent in Hungarian I do not think that is true advertising (more wishful thinking).
