During our um, debate, on the sex industry, JeffOH brought up an interesting point: The number of escorts with websites seems to be increasing daily.

My (admittedly limited) experience has been that most of these guys have seen other guys advertise themselves in AOL chatrooms and decided that it would be a fun way to make some extra money, provided their clients all look like Bruce Willis or Tom Cruise (you are expected to provide them with a self-picture) and don't expect much in the way of affection or enthusiasm. And they'd really only like one or two long-term clients.

My question to those of you who are a bit older and wiser is: Are these guys just an internet-era twist on a common type that's been around for years in different guises, or are we witnessing a new phenomenon?

Interesting you should bring this up. I met a guy a couple of days ago. According to their profile and website (boisruss was the screen name) it was 3 guys in DC for the weekend looking to make a little money. I went to their motel room in a slightly shady part of town to meet this kid called Brandon. The other two guys were there along with an older fellow. The other 3 left me and Brandon alone. The kid is a adorable, but a bit naive and a bit of a hustler for sure. But I was way horny and he was really cute. He told me right off he wouldn't bottom, but he did do some closed mouth kissing and didn't seem to mind me playing with his supple bod. I got off and he seemed like a good kid in there some place, but I think he needs to find another line of work. Definitely very young. But I have met 18 year olds who seemed pretty together and knew what they were doing before, so I think it's not just an age issue.

Sex after Escorting thread, I'd like to have a civil discussion with adults. Anyway, I have an escort profile on AOL, but I don't hang out in the regular chatrooms. If I am in a chatroom using my escort screen name, it is one specifically for escorts. I think it's tacky to sit in a regular chatroom. To me it's kind of like a cyber street corner.

 

Yes, I think you'll find alot of hustlers on AOL who change screen names frequently. I don't have a website, but many escorts have some very nice sites. The internet has been one of the biggest factors in the changing world of escorts/prostitutes

or whatever term someone prefers. I believe there's less need for escort agencies than ever before because there are so many options for escorts as far as advertising. I've seen it change a great deal in the past decade. It's been a full-time thing for me, so I'm really aware of the changes taking place.

AOL chat room escorts seem to be on the increase. First, there are the ones that need to get a bill paid such as the rent or get a car repaired. Others just do it between boyfriends.

 

There is certainly a wide variety, but sitting in the chat rooms 24/7 is has become considered on par with hustling the streets or bars. It no longer attracts the quality repeat client that helps build a stable long term business. The reason these escorts have to sit in the chatrooms is because:

 

1. they change their phone numbers too often or can only be reached by e-mail.

2. they are always traveling

3. they just don't attract repeat clients

4. they don't play well with others and miss out on word of mouth referals.

 

There is certainly some sport to soliciting chat room escorts, and the sport is probably more fun than the actual meeting. The real thrill of the game with a hustler is the hunt, not the tranaction itself.
