okay... it is 3:55 in the AM!

i'm kind of pissed-off, because i'm still awake & not the least bit sleepy. i guess it is good that i don't have class until 11, but since i have an exam in one of the classes, i had hoped to get a decent amount of sleep.

<sigh>

you're so sweet, MA :-)

DC, you seem to be involved in soooo many intense threads on this site it doesn't surprise me that you can't sleep. I get worked up just reading all the controversy. :-) Can't imagine how stressful it would be to actually write all those thoughtful and detailed responses.

But, one thing I found to help me sleep is Melatonin (sp?). It's available over-the-counter and really works well for me.

BTW, many of my co-workers and friends also have trouble sleeping Sunday nights. I think it's related to anxiety over starting a new work-week or school-week. It's our body's way of telling us how much we enjoyed the weekend.

Or how much we didn't enjoy the weekend. Not that I generally look forward to a new week of work anyway. Playing is much more fun.

I'm not personally calling you high-strung but, I know a few participants on this board that would like to sting you high over some of your comments. :-)

BTW, what's the opposite of high-strung? Perhaps it's hung low?!?!

OF, what are the side effects? Are you at all groggy in the morning? Do you feel rested?

Dick, I have not seen any negative side effect. I wake up in the morning feeling very rested and don't feel groggy or the need to be "jump started" with a cup of coffee.

For me, the 1 mg tabs work best. I accidently picked up 3 mg tabs once and I did wake up feeling like I had a hangover. But once I started cutting the tabs into 1 mg doses, I returned to my "normal" sleep pattern.

BTW, I don't use it every night. If I feel "wound up", start tossing or turning, or don't feel tired, then I'll take a tablet. (I average 1-3 tabs per week.)

Prior to my father's death from cancer, he was having trouble sleeping through the night. I asked the hospice nurse about my father using Melatonin (sp?) rather than a prescription drug. The nurse said he'd prefer Melatonin rather than introducing another drug into his system. The Melatonin worked great for him and really seem to aid him getting a restful sleep.
