I received a phone call this past week, from someone at Rentboy, telling me that I had received enough nominations in their 1st Escort Awards to move into the final voting. I was asked if it was o.k. to include me in the category of "Best Fetish Escort". Because that does not even remotely represent me, and because I thought it was up to a vote from clients to put me in a category, I told that them that it would be an unfair representation to include me in that category. When the nominees were listed the following day, I was not included in any category.

 

The people who are running this promotion at Rentboy think that it is their place to choose which category an escort is placed in for actual clients to vote on. One would think that actual clients would be responsible for choosing who the best escort is for each category, so I sent an email expressing how strangely they did things and informing them of the phone call that I had received. I asked them to elaborate on how they made these determinations and received a one liner email telling me that I would be taken off "that list" immediately. I responded once again asking the same questions and the response was "you are not even in the awards any longer".

 

I've only had an ad on Rentboy for about 4 months and every time that I have had to contact them they have served me the biggest attitude over the phone and via email when I ask simple questions about my listing, billing, etc. There are no directions for escorts on their site which prompted me to email them several times when I first placed my ad. When I didn't receive a response from them, I finally called and was told that every email I sent to them was blocked and returned. How strange that I always received their reminder email that it was time to renew for the following month.

 

People are always posting messages about the integrity of escorts and I thought that I would shine some light on how escorts are often treated in this industry (this example specifically from Rentboy.com). Integrity still intact after 8 years of escorting, I politely asked them to remove my listing from their site. They will no longer be receiving my services as a "client" to their site. I prefer to be treated respectfully as a paying client whether it is by phone, email, or in person. This is an expectation that I believe we can all agree should be inclusive when paying for a service of any kind.

Hey Mike. Totally Agree with your Whole Take on this.

 

Rentboy "Client's" Pay $300 A MONTH for the First Page Alone, with a waiting List to move on to it. So I guess their Attitude comes from that!

 

We've all seen these "Contests" Before and probably will again.

 

As Usual the "Your Vote will only be counted ONCE".. according to my findings..AIN'T THE CASE..So Good Luck to ALL the Winner's on that!

Interesting discussion, especially in light of the other discussion regarding what sites work best for escorts. I have read from other discussions and heard from some escorts that rentboy is big in some markets and zip in others. I believe Juan of Van. just recently posted an inconsistency in response to his requests regarding picture theft. But what I gather most is that it is important to know the person in charge. Given you have to pay to have your ad listed you should get service.

 

Also I too wish that they had better instructions regarding how to enter information on all websites. There is such an inconsistency, a lot of time could be saved if there would be a boiler plate form with required fields. That said I do like the fact that I am first able to respond with an email in Rentboy and the escort can list what he gets into with the stat box. I willing to bet that a more complete site will be developed that will benefit escorts and clients.

The Guy's do Pay Top Dollar for their ADS. Of course being in NYC like everything else, it's Expected to Pay Alot for Whatever also!

 

But the NYC "Attitude" shouldn't be included in the Price. IMHO of course!
