This movie, which has been well-reviewed, is a about a pedophile in Long Island, New York. The boys in the movie are extremely attractive, with budding sexual desires and conflicts, along with gay overtones.

But it is a difficult movie to watch. The idea of a jaded old man preying on such youthful innocence is hard to watch.

The filmaker certainly seems to be fond of cute young boys though, as they are often erotically photographed, including two urination scenes and lots of bare torsos.

It is surprising to see a movie like this in a time when child molesting is (rightfully) anathema to society.

Did anyone else have a different opinion?

Whatis the title of this movie, as I cannot find any movie with the initials L.I.E. in the movie databases.

L.I.E. is the title. It stands for Long Island Expressway. Maybe the movie hasn't opened nationwide.

The only reason to see it are the beautiful young boys, the pedophile in the movie comes across as pretty weird. But then, so do some of the boys!.

You can read about the film and their struggle against the NC-17 rating at the studio's website http://www.lot47.com They have release dates for various places there on that site. I think it's been out already in some places and has done some festivals. It opens here in DC for instance on Oct 5. I'm looking forward to seeing what the buzz is all about. From all of the reviews they say the acting is incredible.

I just got home tonight from a screening of a film in a similar vein called "Eban and Charley" about a 29 yr old guy and his relationship with a 15 yr old boy. It actually has a similar story line in some ways to LIE in that the kid's mother died in a car accident and his father is not interested in his life and is rather abusive. Eban and Charley is very low budget though, shot on digital video. Apparently there was a story about it in last week's Advocate. The film definitely has a point of view, and would definitely be considered controversial. On the surface the acting seems rather amateurish, but I think underneath there's really a lot more going on. It's really a pretty complex topic, I think especially these days when kids mature at such a young age.

Obviously these films aren't everyone's cup of tea, but it is possible to make frank films about the subject without lots of hysteria.

Just saw the movie L.I.E. and was very facinated by it....made me somewhat uncomfortable in that it depicts a young man's relationship with a pedophile, who incidentally, appears to be a really nice guy. The movie is not deserving of NC-17 rating but probably received it because of the issue of pedophelia. The acting is exceptional and it's interesting to note that Greg(the gay "best friend" who lures the main character into the roberies, in the film is played by the actor ?Billy Kay, who is a main character in the soap opera "Guiding Light". In there, he plays Shane, son of Reva and Josh and he is squeeky clean. Just the oposite of his character in LIE...A bright future is predicted for this actor.

Anyway, the movie does an excellent job of showing that pedophiles are not necessarily evil people. The pedophile in this movie has socially redeming values...perhaps this accounts for the NC-17 rating.

In any case, this movie is very interesting and well worth viewing.
