well, part of my reasoning for thinking i should go was:

- i'm just getting frustrated & attacked

- most people would rather i not participate

- the remainder couldn't care less (sean, take note of the correct phrase!)

so, i questioned the wisdom in adding something negative to my life if other people would prefer that i didn't participate.

the poll is showing me that even some of my cyber-assailants appreciate the views i convey. we haven't heard from my #1 boogeyman yet, but he may be busy with a pinga stuffed up his chocha or perhaps he's out collecting the perfect picture to illustrate the thread. :-)

the poll wasn't me trying to be sheepish. several people told me privately that, although it wouldn't likely make anyone suicidal, exiling myself would not benefit anyone. i just wanted to see how many members agreed with that premise.

so, it looks like i'm staying. (uh-oh!) but, final decision will be postponed until the thread dies a natural death.

thanks, zach, for your comments though. i appreciate ANYONE here taking the time to weigh in.

sorry... i should have thanked nasa for his comments, i misread the user id.

i do still thank zach, and everyone else, though.

ok, 2 "LEAVE" votes :) now we're getting somewhere... don't hold back! :)

hey! i get to decide whether the chad is dimpled or hanging!

yes, i'm actually having fun in my own narcissistic, self-absorbed way.

huh? i certainly didn't think my puny comments on previous threads conveyed this view.

told u already: u have two personae; usually interesting, informative, funny, etc. or brat-child.

brat-child should get a good spanking and stay in his room.

My entirely selfish enjoyment of the message board is enhanced by the presence of escorts. It is decreased by the presence of those flinging gratuitously insulting remarks. As a result, ruthless self-interest naturally leads me greater tolerance for the foibles of escorts than for the antics of those who fling gratuitously insulting remarks at them.

I delude myself, perhaps, into thinking that such views can be found broadly replicated in the message board community as a whole. My confusion here may stem from the many, though perhaps unrepresentative, complaints voiced on the board that escorts are routinely hounded away by tactless and offensive curs who seem to get their jollies from publicly cutting them down.

DC, Sweetie, read it again. He didn't say you should leave, he just found you self-absorbed. It is this tendency to relish finding the negative in casual comments and expanding on them rather that just letting them pass that is perplexing. Does this mean that people want you off the board. OF COURSE NOT! Not one of the posters has made that suggestion.

What I find perplexing is not so much the tendency to expand on them, but the apparent need to express "the negative in casual comments" in the first place. It would seem that some of you just don't get it yet. If this negativism and these personal attacks continue (and yes, describing someone as "self-absorbed" is a textbook case of a personal attack), Hoo is going to close down the message board, and I for one will not shed any tears. If I am still here, it's because of what the board *could* be, not for what some of you are making it. "Free speech!" seems to be increasingly the cry of the mean spirited these days.

Can I just invite you to read again what is written in BOLD LETTERS at the end of the message board's introduction?

Well, I AM a size queen. And my vote can be bought.

So where's the picture? And where, for that matter, are DCEscortBOY's reviews?

Well DC, I say STAY, but don't stay just because a majority

of posters want you to stay. I couldn't give a flyin' fuck who wants or doesn't want me here and neither should you. They'll

have to pry my cold dead fingers from the keyboard to get rid

of me.

I find a variety of posters to be interesting most of the time.

Yes, some of my fellow escorts appear to use the message boards

as yet another place to advertise...hiding behind their escort

personas, never saying anything that's likely to cause controversy. Look, I have opinions and I'm not afraid to express

myself. Not everybody is going to like me and that's fine. I

don't need that approval to get through my day.

So, get on here, express yourself, but don't get caught up in

these bullshit, mudslinging exchanges that get tiresome rather

quickly. You know, the Who's the Most Clever Queer, where

posts are dissected and analyzed for some hidden meaning. I only

read them to see how far some posters are willing to go with it.

For example, I have often agreed with Pickwick/Reg/Spendlove?

(I'm sure I've left someone out)and Joey Ciccone on many topics.

But, that whole Philadelphia thread spiraled out-of-control over

a couple of harmless remarks, which could have been easily ignored or laughed off. It's sort of like watching a fencing

match, but with words. I'd rather use words to share my thoughts

or ask questions of others to possibly learn something.

I invite YOU to recall a post of yours in one of the threads in which Theron and I went at each other. Your post discussed in some detail the enjoyment that you used to derive from mocking other posters whom you classifed as "clueless." I am sure I can find that post again should it become necessary. You do NOT have the kind of record here that allows you to lecture the rest of us on the subject of nice-ness, so knock it off.

DC, if you are counting my post as a vote that you leave, you are mistaken. I have never found any of your posts interesting, but that is no reason why you should be banished, or if it is then 90% of the other posters will have to go with you. You should continue to express yourself in any way you think fit, and so should the rest of us. NO ONE should presume to tell any of us what we can or cannot say.

Frankly, Jeff, you are one of the decent types I had in mind when I wrote what I did above. If some of the self-promoting types and their fans have their way, this message board will consist of nothing but escorts making cute remarks (about themselves, of course) and fans cooing and simpering over them. And with the fake reviews penned by escorts crowding out the genuine reviews, what will this site be then? Nothing more than a collection of escort ads like escorts4you.com, isn't that so?

Hey Michael,

I hope you stay. It's great to hear from anyone unafraid to speak his mind. I admire your courage.

We all have the right to remain silent. If we give up that right anything we say might be used against us. Thankfully, it's our choice, slience or the freedom of speech.

You have balls big enough to speak openly, honestly and uncensored.

Respectfully,

Zach DC

It is understandable that you act in accordance with your self-interest. The question is whether you also expect everyone else to act in accordance with your self-interest. It would probably be unreasonable to expect that.

All of those complaints seem to come from the same small group of people. There are about a thousand active members of this site but only a tiny portion of those ever seem to post more than once in a great while, so I would have to agree with you that those who do are unrepresentative.

I didn't and wouldn't suggest that anyone leave the board. But people who look at the world in a negative way are bound to put the most negative interpretation on what anyone says.

My interpretation of the thread author's behavior is that he likes to draw attention to himself. Is there anyone, including the thread author, who would disagree with that? There seems to be a small number of escorts who use this board in that way, I assume for business reasons.

Reg,

It seems to me that you take an extreme view of some, maybe many, of us and of most escorts, in particular. I disagree with your assessment, in the broad, of us and them and of what we want this board to consist of. Your are free to voice your opinion and I am free to disagree.

Hope your weather is as nice as ours... after that nasty heat wave.

Do what you want; it's your call.

But I think I speak for myself and a silent majority who mostly reads posts here when I say that I would love to never, ever, ever see a thread about the board again -- that is, I'm tired of scrolling through topics about other topics, about posting, about this place. I come to the board for discussion but not for discussion about the board. This is a great way to communicate, but we need more communication about the world and less communication about the website.

More discussion, less drama. That's what would keep THIS escort around.

"Free speech" is always invoked to protect opinions we find distasteful or inappropriate. That's the whole point.

You certainly speak for me on this issue. Anyone is free to create a thread on any subject and anyone is free to respond to it or ignore it. What more do people want?
