I don't know where you're staying in PR or what your other interests are, but I can give you some general suggestions and advice.

 

You should check out cruisingforsex.com for listings of bars and clubs in the San Juan area, and some general info on cruising in the island's different cities.

 

As far as I know, there are no agencies that promote escorts. The boys listed on rentboy.com, with one exception, are not even in PR. They would travel with you.

 

I've been to PR three times in the last couple of years, and although there is evidence of gay life, it is VERY discrete and kept somewhat underground.

 

The town squares (usually in the center, surrounded by a church and/or city hall) in Caguas, Ponce, Cabo Rojo, Mayaguez and Aguadilla are popular gathering places, and although I've made eye contact and some brief conversation, it didn't go much further.

 

Malls in most cities are pretty cruisy and PR has a good deal of them. But I would advise caution, in any public place, including beaches. The police in PR take quality of life infractions VERY seriously (for example, driving too slow in the fast lane on the highway--a notorious problem on the island--now merits a huge fine.) Imagine what getting caught sucking cock in public would get you!

 

There is a chain of stores, called Condom World (I think) that specialize in sex-related items. They also stock publications that might give you some good info. There is one right in Condado in San Juan.

 

If you hit the saunas and/or bars and clubs, you might ask discretely. You could also ask someone in your hotel, although I didn't feel comfortable doing this (I was at the Marriott Stella Maris in San Juan).

 

There is the Atlantic Beach Hotel in San Juan that caters to gay men; you could always have a drink there and ask the bartender. I would strongly discourage, however, from staying at that hotel. Its a dump.

 

You could also check out the chat rooms on AOL or gay.com and see if you can solicit (no pun intended) information on places to go and things to do.

 

PR is naturally beautiful and so are the people. Everyone says hello, wishes you well, or good appetite, but that belies a strong ultraconservatism that is quite evident outside the metropolitan areas.

 

I wish you well on your trip. Unless your trip is devoted exclusively to sex, you won't be disappointed.
