411 on San Antonio/Dallas/Houston/Austin

Guys,

 

Need help. I will be with my boyfriend in TX for two weeks!!! Don't want to waste time in any of these cities,if it isn't worth it! Please....need all the info I can get so I know where not to go in terms of bars, escorts, gay nightlife, etc. Any info will help. Thanx.

I spend a good deal of my time between Austin, NYC, and Palm Springs. More and more of my time is being spent in Austin.

 

I really cant comment on Dallas or Houston, other than saying they are very big, pretty flat, and fairly cosmopolitian. Both cities have a pretty good sized gay population, and it seems to be centered mainly in one area of town. I go to either Dallas or Houston much. Just not my kind of town, but a lot of people like it. Just way too many Republicans for my taste. The bar scene is, I have been told, pretty hot on the weekends. I dont know what the escort scene is like there.

 

My home base now Austin (sorta half way between NYC and Palm Springs - the commute either way isnt so bad). Three words best describe Austin - laid back, tolerant, and LIBERAL. Its confortably large (750,000 in the greater metro area). One fact that a lot of people dont know about Austin is that it has the 3rd largest per capita of gay people in the nation. The gay people here are pretty much integrated throughout the city, so they dont have a "gay ghetto". I rarely go out here to gay clubs, but I enjoy Oil Cann's in the warehouse district. Its HOT on the weekends. There are quite a few escorts here, but only about 5 or 6 of the calibre that you are looking for. A lot of the escorts here are college jocks who want to pick up some spare cash. The 5 or 6 I am referring to, tho, are found on this site or escorts I know who are really pros at their business.

 

Austin is also known for the awesome beauty of the Texas hill country, the 5 (five) lakes around the city, the healthy, and athletic lifestyle here, 75,000 college students (no kidding- 5 colleges or universities), big high tech town. Austin is heavy on the "boys" and lean on the men. It seems to be a big bottom town, which is fine with me.

 

I believe San Diego is Austin's sister city. Austin doesnt have a Black's beach, but they do have Hippie Hollow - the nude city park on Lake Travis. I have been to San Diego, and found them to be very similiar.

 

Now, where do I send the travel brochures???
