A couple of years ago, I read (and unfortunately, I don't remember where) a very sad/disturbing article about the evolution of condom use in Str8 (sorry!) porn. At first, most producers were dead set against it -- they argued that sales (especially in Europe) would be adversely affected if condoms were used. That started to change when some of the more popular actresses rebelled and wouldn't work without them. (To their credit, a couple of Str8 actors also insisted on using them.) Then a well known porn actor came down with HIV. He allegedly faked an aids test, continued to work and allegedly infected at least one of this co-stars. Naturally, all hell broke loose and condom use became more or less mandatory in the Str8 porn world. Knowing everything that we do, it makes me very angry and sad to think that we may see the day the condoms may no longer be used in gay porn.
