Are the two O's pronounced as in "door" or "room"? I always assumed it was pronounced in the former manner, as in "Oh, Boy!" Other have opined it's pronounced in the latter matter, as in "Who Boy?" :-)

I think normal spelling conventions dictate that "oo" at the end of a syllable is pronounced as in "loo", "too", "coo", "zoo" or ... "poo". But "hooboy" is an exclamation, so people vary in how they say it, I guess.

Americans say "boo" but there are some people in Britain who pronounce it "boh".

Whatever makes you happy!

Also, an owl says "hoo hoo", but Santa Claus says "ho ho".

Please, let's not get into whether hooboy is putting the "ho" back in "boy". (Wasn't it RuPaul who put the "ho" back in "Ho Ho Ho!")

Well, it's a well-known fact that HooBoy is a Texan... and 'hoo... boy...' (pronounced as too) is a well-known phrase of exclamation encountered in the southwest. So 1 + 1 = ....

Just thought I'd take this opportunity to spread a little disinformation which seems the trend these days. (Or is it misinformation -- the latter I think since this has not yet become a campaign.)

Of course, there is always the possibility this might be an example of the broken clock giving the right time twice a day.

P.S. I also have several bridges for sale.

Saint Who

I have always leaned to the orthodox form of pronuniation, such as WHO. And speaking of pronouncements, I decided to beatify him for the establishment of this very site. Hoo can now be referred to as Saint Who.

RE: Saint Who

Technically there have to be three miracles for a beatification.

I vote that one miracle is: putting up with angry escorts who get bad reviews. The question is whether this constitutes one miracle or can count for all three. Does the Vatican have a policy on combining miracles?

Usually any decent saint has also been tortured by an oppressor but refuses to give up his or her faith.

I think we've seen ample evidence that St. Hoo qualifies on those grounds.

RE: Saint Who

You are right, 3 miracles at the minimum.

Lets see, there was putting up with Sean and his high-heels in the stereo. Thats one.

Now there is Kyle and his novel. Thats two.

Personnally I find picking rice in NYC at this time of a year could be considered a miracle, but(one t) others longer in the tooth may recall Godly acts.

Get the Halo ready.

Cowboys can be saints. I bet somebody out there can testify to that :)
