d.anders Posted March 4 Posted March 4 When I went to see Pillion, I saw the preview to The Bride. I thought the preview was awful. Given the number of friends who did not enjoy del Toro's recent Frankenstein, I was surprised by the timing of this. Then I see it's a Maggie Gyllenhaal project, with solid names in the cast. Several YouTube media critics are calling it dead on arrival, even before seeing it. Does anyone have any interest in this?
samhexum Posted March 4 Posted March 4 She was talking about it on THE VIEW the other day. They showed clips; that's as far as I need to go.

d.anders Posted March 8 Author Posted March 8 Wow, the numbers folks are predicting a $100 million loss. Opening weekend only pulled in $7.3 million against an $80 million budget, not including marketing. For a minute there, it was the #1 ad on HBO. I hated it so much, I had to mute it. It was the dumbest ad on TV, and there was nothing about it that said "yeah, let's go out in the freezing cold and drop $28-a-ticket on this stinky turd." All my favorite critics are saying the film is insane. Gyllenhaal is seen in many interviews saying she made it for the girls. Somehow this movie is a feminist statement? All they had to do was have me at the pitch meeting, pay me $20,000 plus a week's stay at the Four Seasons, and I would have saved them millions.
