He said that for now, he and his partner are only offering duo service. I’m waiting to hear back on what their duo rates are, but for now, I'll pass. A shame though, I would have hired him if he was a single gig.

That's odd as he makes no mention of that in his ad, that he doesn't offer solo service. Well make sure if you pass you end the conversation with that you'd love to hire him if he's ever available for just one on one and he might reach out then if he's in need of some quick funds.
