I have hired escorts in Amsterdam and London, but I have never been with an escort in the US or Canada. It's a closet thing, but I am going to be in NYC soon, and I am wondering about the police, at least I was wondering about them before 9-11. Do the police in NYC hound escorts and clients? Do they conduct sting operations? Perhaps I should use past tense here given recent events. Did the police---I imagine they have better things to do these days--cause a lot of legal trouble for escorts and clients before September 11? And what is to be expected in the future?

And what of other cities like Chicago, New Orleans, Las Vegas and, say, Toronto and Vancouver? How safe is it to meet escorts in these cities? What are the chances of being arrested as a client? Do experienced escorts and clients "rate" cities according to how dangerous the police are? I would think Las Vegas, for example, would consider escorting a normal and desirable part of the economy. New Orleans, on the other hand....well, the "old" South and all that. And I know nothing about this police-escort problem in Canada.

be EXTREMELY afraid!!!!!!!!!!

the police in the US have absolutely NOTHING to do with their time! they sit around & try to thwart the nasty deeds of escorts & clients any time they can. if you can, don't use email or the phone!!! they'll always catch you that way. i handle all of my appointments & inquiries via carrier pigeons. sure, they're little rat-birds to most people, but to me, they are a godsend! they're my lifeline. it isn't foolproof. just this wednesday, i lost skippy, one of my most trusted little messenger pals. OH THE HUMANITY!!!!!!!! one of those horrid police officers must have caught on to my dasterdly plan. some careless client must have tipped the five-oh off to my location, because he was laying in wait, ready to ambush. <sniffle>

excuse me for a minute.... all this talk about skippy is making me ferklempt... give me a moment.

ok, i'm better now...

anyway, the police were waiting to ambush me when skippy came home with a message. the hideous officer took out a slingshot & brought my beloved skippy down before he could land!!!! my only consolation is the fact that skippy's sphincter released when he died & he managed to squeeze out a bit of pigeon-pooh onto the cop.

helpfully yours,

- Escorting in Canada

That this question comes up over and over even from Canadian escorts and clients is testimony to the power of American telivision. Prostitution is *not* illegal in Canada. Furthermore, the criminal code in Canada is a federal responsibility, so the law (at least with respect to prostitution)is the same everywhere from Victoria to St John's (the capitals of BC and Newfoundland respectively).

Here is what *is* illegal in Canada:

1. Accosting someone in the street or a public place and either offering or asking for sex for money. This is called "soliciting" or "street-walking".

2. Sharing accommodations for the purpose of having sex with non residents for money. This is called "keeping a common bawdy-house" or running a "brothel".

3. Taking a commission for sexual services offered to a third party. This is called "living off the avails of prostitution" or "pimping".

So long as you arrange your "date" directly and in private (phone or e-mail counts as "private"), and any sex occurs in a hotel room or a private residence, there is no problem with the law.

- Grey areas:

Bath houses: It is technically illegal to have sex there except in a rented private (ie. lockable) room.

Agencies: As pimping is illegal, these are technically rent-a-date services. An agency will not want to hear anything about sexual activities involving its boys, though obviously it knows what is going on. This is similar to the situation in most of the US.

In essence, unless you are realy stupid or reckless, or have a thing about having sex in public, the police in Canada will leave you alone.

Ruben,

If you arrange a date with an established escort who has several reviews here (and some of the reviews are not first timers) I can't imagine having trouble with the police.

There has been mention here of the police taking over an agency (in Texas, I think) and running it as a front. The clients were then arrested. It is real hard to picture them taking over a one-man private operation and busting his single client.

Put your mind at ease and enjoy.

In Canada escorting is kinda legal: ) Kinda because there are still aspects which can lead to arrest. These are....

1) soliciting a monetary exchange in exchange for sexual favours, in a public place.

2)NO INCALLS, but I do them with people I know, and on the very rare occasion, if it's the only option. (in-calls are considered running a bawdy house)

there are a few other small things that are illegal, but they aren't of note. You're safe here.

Welcome to the best country in the world: ) I'm copyrighting that so that you yanks can't use it anymore.

Actually, Matt, I believe it has to be a "common" bawdy house before it's illegal. In other words, if you AND your room mate are selling sex at home, that's running a brothel. If YOU are the only escort-in-residence, you are in the clear.

They're right. You *are* cute. I hadn't checked your reviews for a while. Hoo normally warns when he adds new pics. (Bad Hoo!) I like the new haircut too. :9

Esc-Tracker, you're so right! Matt is so cute I've been thinking about playing the lottery, so I could move to Vancouver if I win. (or selling off my property, piece by piece.)

None of those pics look like Mattie-in-the-Morning -- whole different image, but his butt is just as cute.

I would attempt a description but I'd better not -- mercy for the squeamish. Let's just say that Dr. Jekyll isn't the one that is camera shy. Fortunately the antidote -- a Starbuck's latte -- never fails.

TY :-) (who is probably in trouble over this -- what's life without a little spilled milk)

Hmmm.... this just must have made it in before sundown. Amazing what that setting sun can accomplish on one day of the year... now if we could only get it to work 24/365.

I'll admit I had a doubt too... glad you cleared it up. I wish i could say I have doubts about the longer term prospects. I don't question your sincerety on this day, only the duration of it. I suspect that from a very short distance down the road this will be seen more as a day of truce.

I broke one of my few rules and read your Yom Kippur post because I thought it would be of pleasant tone, as it was, and because I was curious of your approach to the post in light of your track record. I'm not here in this follow-up to dump on you only to give you a thought on this day of atonement -- I won't burden you with any more of them after this. BG gave you some really sage counsel and maybe one day you will be ready to embrace more of it. It will be a geat day for you both on the inside and the outside. I wish you peace and hope grace and tranquility will find you in time.
