I'm so old that I remember when the Broadway mall in Hicksville (Long Island) was an open air shopping center, which they enclosed in 1968... probably around the time I remember us having to detour on the Grand Central Parkway because a section of it was being remodeled when my mom drove us home…

Today I saw from a video on YouTube that they are going to partially demolish, redevelop, and "de-mall" the mall...

And here we are 57 years later and they've been remodeling that same section of the Grand Central Parkway for the last few years, requiring detours at times.

My mom would have laughed, unless she was stuck in traffic, in which case she would have said something sarcastic.
