Took a leap and visited the guy - def not him and I ended up walking away 30 seconds into meeting him. He swears it's his photos, so if it is, they must be from a whilleee ago.

Sorry it happened to you but happy to know the truth. I can't figure out how these guys with fake pics think they can get away with it. I too would simply say 'no' and turn around. Maybe a lot of others stick around for the full disappointment. 🤷
