I'm visiting Tokyo in a couple of weeks. Anybody have experience of escorts there and/or know how to find any based in Tokyo?

I have been to Tokyo twice. Tokyo is not Amsterdam, Paris, or London. It is Tokyo - and the Japanese culture is very closed and protected. If you are American, you will be treated courteously and will always feel safe, but if you "invade" into their social structure, you will not be accepted. This is not snobbery, it is more cultural differences and downright fear of YOU. There were certain restaurants that even didn't know what to do with a couple of foreigners. There were cabs that would drive right by and not stop (it's said they are worried they won't know where you want to go, fortunately my hotel gave me business cards to say "take me to...") There is a distict (neon at night like you would not believe) called "Kabuki-Cho" where you will be hustled by workers of the various nightclubs (sex-houses) to come in (and be stiffed for drinks) by Anglo-looking and even black workers who are hired to get the tourists in. I can not imagine being male and trying to explain you want a male escort. My friend and I walked through what was written in a guide book as "the gay section", and there was nothing there that would alert any non-Japanese person that it was different from any other place. I loved Tokyo, but bring someone along. That was my experience, at least. (I'm not Japanese, I don't know if you are)

I have never been to Japan but, from what I can tell from last year's Spartacus guide, there is a hustler bar called College No Osama on the second floor of the Nagira building at 2-15-8 in the Shinjuku district. English is apparently spoken there and the phone number is 33 52 39 30. Have the hotel staff write it out for you and take a cab. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I've also been to Tokyo several times and agree with everything you say. I usually stick to where my local hosts (I've always been there on business) take or direct me and am careful not to cause offence through being ignorant of cultural differences.

However, now that I'm more familar with the city and Japanese culture, I thought I'd be a bit more adventurous on the next visit and try to find the gay life that definitely does exisit there but is hard to find as a Westerner with a limited Japanese vocabulary. I'm guessing that a local escort might be a good way to enter this world.

I tried this "HOST BAR" last night and the Manager MR.KIYO can speak English and it also have the English-List to show you how does it charges and works. They have 4 catalogs that you could choose boys from the list. This bar opened in 1977 and the correct name and address listed below:

KING OF COLLEGE, 2-14-5 (2F AT âãBUILDING)

Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo.

TEL: (3)3352-3930 FAX: (3)3351-6863

Website: http://www.kocnet.jp

I am not sure that they'll accept foreigners cause when I make a call to ask the address, I said I am Taiwanese and I can speak a little Japanese. When I arrival the Shinjuku direction, they send someone to pick me up to the bar!!!

Hope all enjoy a good trip in Tokyo^^"

I spent a week in Tokyo in 1995 and agree with everything said so far. In 1995, the yen-dollar exchange rate was at its worst for Americans, so I did not even think about hiring escorts. But I did try to check the scene out. It is very difficult for someone who does not speak Japanese. People in bars were friendly, but nothing more. I did get the strong feeling that there were hustlers outside one bar & wish I had investigated futher. But the prices just for food and a beer were so high all over Tokyo that hiring an escort seemed way beyond my budget. I enjoyed the city, it has a lot of charm despite the over population and proliferation of building that makes New York sem like a small town. (I should say that I was eperienceed at hiring escorts in 1995 so it was not a fear of the unknown).

I don't know what the scene is like today, but when I was in Tokyo in 1977 (Has it been that long a time?), I had some information about some gay area. I think the district is listed in one or two responses today. (...got directions and just happened upon it.)

I went into this dance club and became fascinated by two hot young men. We danced and kissed, and I'd really wanted to take them back to my hotel. The only problem was that I was sharing a room at this juncture of the trip with an Aussie doctor who was part of my tour group.

These guys spoke reasonable English; both were of mixed race, and neither mentioned anything about a fee.

This doesn't help, as such, with the respondent's question, but I thought I'd write it anyway. At that time I did not seek the the services of escorts either...
