I am a provider of our hobby and graduated last year with a Computer Science degree - I've been called an unassuming hung nerd many times before 🤣. I would love to put my degree to use as a Software Engineer or Machine Learning Engineer, while doing this on the side. I have tons of SWE experience, but am having networking trouble in this market. If anyone has hiring power, has any leads, advice, or could help in anyway, that would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to message me or comment. Thanks men.

Hey Sam, I assume you posted this here in the hope that some people may read it here who did not see it in the Lounge, and the comments there have been supportive without apparently providing any actual help. I hope that works for you. Be aware that the moderators may decide that posting in one forum is enough and merge them.

As with any thread posted on the site, if you as its creator decide it would do better in a different forum you can report it and ask for it to be moved.

For now it's in both and with luck you'll have some more responses in this forum.

Other than machine learning (very hard to get into unless you're already a senior engineer), what type of software are you looking to get into? Mobile apps? Web (backend, frontend or full stack)? If you're in Austin that is probably one of the better locations for TX. Tech conferences sometimes have recruiters or they have happy hours and meet-n-greets. That might be a decent way to network. What area of software engineering have you gotten some experience with?
