Gay Civil rights leader, author . His 100 th birthday would have been a few days ago

I read Baldwin:s  gay novel, Another Country, when I was a sophomore in a Catholic college in 1962.  A friend who was a very attractive  guy me about the book. He wasn't gay,    I had a lot to learn

I was in the same situation as you, when I was in college.  I had a lot to learn about men, such as my handsome house brothers.

But back to Baldwin, I'm glad you mentioned Another Country.  I want to read it!

I always had a question about his remarkable book Giovanni's Room.  I ran across this recent piece that cleared things up for me.  After all this time I get it, or at least moved passed what I was hung up on, which was essentially my own self.
