Ali Gator Posted October 27, 2023 Share Posted October 27, 2023 1980 - Barbra Streisand's album "Guilty" as well as the first single from the album, "Woman In Love" both hit the number one spot on Billboard's Hot 200 Albums Chart and Billboard's Hot 100 Singles Chart, respectively. "Guilty" would accomplish this in its third week of release. "Guilty" would stay at the top for 3 consecutive weeks, and stay on the Hot 200 Albums Chart for a total of 49 weeks. The album would spin-off 4 singles : "Woman In Love" (#1), "Guilty" (#3), "What Kind of Fool" (#10), and "Promises" (#48). Within one month of it's topping the chart, the album would be a Gold seller (500,000 units sold). By the end of the decade, it would be certified 5x Platinum (5 million copies sold) and become one of her best-selling albums of all time. It would also be nominated for a Grammy for Album of the Year (losing out to 'Christopher Cross') as well as other nominations. "Woman In Love" would stay at the top for 3 consecutive weeks, and stay on the Hot 100 Singles Chart for 24 weeks. It would sell Gold (1 million units) within one month of topping the chart, and go on to be certified Platinum (2 million units sold). It would be Streisand's last #1 single.
