We were talking about where we get hired the most from (having ads on all the sites)....We both agreed that Rentboy is still the grand daddy of 'em all, with most of our calls coming from their site. The rest of my list is as follows:

The vast majority of my new clients come from rentboy, with men4rentnow a distant second. Beyond that it's a mix of the review sites, rentmen, referrals from other escorts, word of mouth and so on. Especially here in NYC, rentboy is still the 800 pound gorilla.

The problem with MRRNow is that some escorts don't give their phone number. The page for email does not allow the client to send a message. It just sends a standard inquiry and escorts either respond several days later or not at all. Many on M$RN have moved on and are not really available. If you do use it as an escort, be sure to give your phone number.

It's a horrible site. They intentionally leave up the ads for escorts whose payments have expired, but strip away the contact information. Not in the interest of the escort or the client. That's just one example of their unfriendly business model.

you arent kidding about men4rentnow.com it is expensive if you ask me and mostly inquiries but not much follow through. rentboy is also pricey and i have had issues with advertising with them whether technical or otherwise, so i only use them for filling in extra time slots for traveling to other cities mainly because of their higher rates. but i als realize a lot of clients do use them.

 

my new favorite is rentmen.com the person (people)that run that site are not only polite but they are professional which is important to me. they also take constructive criticism to better their site to make it more user friendly for escorts. some sites seem to forget.....without escorts advertising....they wouldnt have a site. PERIOD! rentmen.com also handles issues right away and navigating their site is easy and for me, better than any other pay escort site. not to mention they are very reasonable in prices unlike rentboy and men4rentnow.com. of course, i have a ton of repeat business and am glad about that. i have also had a lot of referrals from other cleints. either way, i am very greatful i am still busy in this poor economy. i have spoken to many that arent so busy these days.

i am also glad to see that rentmen.com is working somehow in conjunction with daddysreviews.com........who incidently was the 1st and best male escort site around when i started. many thanks to Hooboy and now daddy! thanks!

That's why I avoid that website. I once advertised there and noticed that my ad stayed up because I received emails because clients had responded to my ad.

 

Since it was a travelling ad there was no use in trying to get in touch with the client because I had already left. Nevertheless I thought that this "business model" was affecting the good name that I built up so carefully, because the only thing a client notices is that he responds to the ad of an escort, but the escort is not responding back.

I understand your point of view and I have no doubt about your good intentions. If you log in into your M4RN profile, (even) after your ad has expired you have the option to delete your account. That way your ad will no longer appear on their site and there won't be any misleading for your potential clients ... just an idea.

 

On a side note, at least M4RNow provides you with that option to delete your account. When I checked last on a competitor site the link "delete my advertisement" was disabled.

For me the best site I've advertised on is Rent Men and then this review site. I advertised my travel plans for my SF trip which I am on right now and with in a week or so was booked solid. Advertising on RM has made this trip the most successful trip I've done and has encouraged me to do more this year. RM is also easy to navagate as an escort and as a client. I like the escort interviews/intros that they do (I've done my own impromptu one) and the video's escorts and clients can post, some are quite hot. The worse sites have been Rent Boy and M4RN. M4RN twice charged my card after being told I wanted to cancel my membership. And Rent Boy is so damn expensive. Last I checked they charged for posting in your home city AND if you travel. That to me is a huge rip off and not customer friendly and not to mention all the adverts on their site just makes it one hot mess to look at and navigate.

Rentboy is definitely where most of the clients find me. I am happy with the number of enquries I get from Gaydar as well. GayRomeo has been ok for European Visitors and is free so you can't fault that. I get some calls from my Rentmen ad as well.

M4RN was a horrible experience, when I balked at paying what they wanted, they gave me a free listing. Then they proceeded to send me lots of "looking now" e-mails of clients that were not in my current city or looking for someone not in my Age or Price range. I let it expire, but had to go in and delete my listing after it expired.

In the last few weeks I've noticed rentmen has been having the same sort of problems that rentboy suffers from. The server seems highly unreliable (I can't even log on to set my availability) and emails aren't being forwarded.

Kevin I noticed that too the other day so I went into my profile and posted my email address in my profile. But it does look like they have fixed the problem though as I've been getting emails.

You got me to wondering so I pulled a report at where most of my business comes from and by far with a grand 97% success rate, m4rn.com bar far delivers here in the Dallas area. I know that rentboy is big but I'm finding that it's only large in certain regions of the country, mainly in NYC and have been told that from a number of other escorts.

 

I get of repeat business and word of mouth from a handful of other escorts that I know personally and work with as we have similar clients here and there. On Rentboy, I usually get a lot of inquiries but mainly from gentlemen that just want to view the private gallery and after that - I don't hear from them so I find myself changing the password quite often.

 

But, that's just my experience and I'm sure that my experience is bar far one of the few.

I hope there could be a way that escorts can advertise themselves for a lesser fee and don't have to pay those greedy websites with their hard earned money. Can someone figure way out of doing it? I bet the competitors wouldn't like it but it is just unfair for them to get that much money while escorts are being exploited. If escorts can form a union like other workers in other fields and that union handles advertisement websites (to regulate fraud and filter out

unprofessional escorts). I personally don't like men4rent because there is no way a person can have a perfect review and four stars every time. I was a ver popular in my field and got numerous awards but never never received that kind of review. So I check other review sites when I hire an escort. Daddysreviews help a lot.

Escorting is a very profitable business. That one has the opportunity to invest a bit of money into it in order to reap better rewards doesn't offend me in the slightest.

 

The big two sites (rentboy and men4rentnow) do charge and do give better placement depending on one's ability to pay, but less expensive alternatives do exist (craigslist and the second-tier sites). In general, those sites seem to be populated with less professional escorts. If I were on the hiring side of the equation, I would be glad for the sites that charged advertisers in that it may help to weed out the less professional (and possibly less reliable) or fly-by-night guys.

 

I suspect that a plumber pays a heck of a lot for her yellow pages ad, and I don't begrudge the phone book for driving business to those who can afford to advertise either.

I agree with you. I think it works on a city-by-city basis though. rentboy is almost non-existent in my town, while m4rn is where most escorts advertise here.

 

Craigslist is a complete crap shot. I've had great success and some not-so-great. In my opinion though, that's half the fun. That said, if I were doing a weekend (or longer), I'd be asking daddy and friends for some help. Actually, I'd probably go with the frequent posters on this site...feel like I know you guys already! and yer hot ;-)

I had exclusively used M4RN up until several months ago when I started using Rentboy for travel cities ads only. There are currently no ads in my town so I don't have an add with RB there. It had tremendously helped my exposure and I have found in larger cities especially, that the ratio of requests to actual clients gained, is better with RB. I prefer RB when it comes to functionality and it is by far better for initial communication between escort and client as the client can write a message. M4RN can be very confusing to the client to determine which city the escort is in unless the escort is very diligent about posting their travel dates under the cities. (I also put my dates for each city in the headline.) With RB you have to pay for each travel city ad which does minimize the number of ads in a city and gives a truer measure of what escorts are actually there. This is less frustrating for clients. RB also allows you to add more detailed information that is forbidden on M4RN such as links and urls to Daddysreviews.com and links to your own personal sites. I have recently signed up for Rentmen as they are running a promotion for 9.95 a month just to see what interest I receive for one month. After posting my new website, I am actually getting more response through that outlet then RB or M4RN but time will tell how long that keeps up. But like a few others that have posted, the majority of my client base is from clients I see on a consistent basis.

It can be very profitable for those that have a good reputation, integrity for what they do, and those that treat their clients well. Those that are in it for the quick buck and aren't fair and consistent I am sure wont be as successful (IMHO). But advertising is key along with "word of mouth" advertising and having positive reviews. Sites like Daddy's also really help, as I have had many clients tell me that it helped solidify their decision whether to hire or not hire an escort, which goes back to reputation and consistency.
