If my memory serves me correctly, one massage session will just about cover your monthly advertising costs. If that is the case, then you are running a very efficient business. Probably if you increased your advertising budget, the additional revenue would not be in proportion to your additional costs. I'd say keep it the way it is.

I've tried doing advert in Seattle from rent boy and men4rent with very little luck. But I have found that generally I have better luck from men4rent when I travel. Go figure. I think if I were able to travel more I'd be doing better or living in a better market then Seattle.

I get 80.00 for a massage with a hand release so 2 clients pay my entire monthly ad cost. I'm thinking of dropping the mag ad and going with massage m4m mag ads don't pull in like they once did..

Oh, now I see, Joe, you are getting really personal with the questions, going right to the cash issue: The next thing I know you will be asking me out on a date. LOL

Seriously, I spend for on-line sources approximately one hundred per month but will be cutting that down to fifty in the coming days ahead.

For publications I am advertising in, I have in recent time periods paid for pre-paid weekly or bi-weekly ads covering or stretched over a yearly period that I have paid thousands of dollars for.

This is the guiding factor: Regardless of what one is doing, be it sensual-erotic massage or working as an escort, this is the "test": if essentially the ads are not bringing in enough actual business that makes your enterprise overall profitable it is time to re-evaluate where you are putting your dough down and for what.

Here is another hint: Ask the prospective client where he saw or ad or, if you prefer, how he learned of you.

Finally, advertise where and when you wish, don't let anyone make you feel guilty for discontinuing ads or not advertising with a particular source. Pay close attention to whether your ad is appearing and have a good rapport with advertising sources, so that if you have to change an ad in any way, even a printed ad, you can do so so that it will benefit you better.

The way the on-line advertising sources rip you off is essentially through the lure of the special categories: "platinum"; "premium"; "gold", etc. The reality is that you may or may not be able to afford these on a regular or ongoing basis, if at all.

Please remember that the real "selling" is through the direct communication with you once and if that occurs: You may have ads that to your knowledge are generating inquiries; but unless those inquiries, largely as a result of your "selling" of yourself, result in actual transactions the ads are no more than publicity for yourself essentially (and there is no guarantee that the publicity will later on lead to biz for you, only a possibility of this).

Stay sweet.

I guess, that I'm following the principle that you have to spend some money to make money. I'm not saying that this is the right thing to do, but it works for me.

Here is what I officially spend on advertising and promotion:

- $79.95 per month for a platinum ad on Men4RentNow

- between $150-$300 a month for Rentboy when I travel through the US (varies depending on the city and type of ad) and only $30 a month when I'm home in Belgium

- $30 a month for my Newsletter

- around 200 € a year for my Webmaster (who has been very good to me. Thank you)

- 69 € a year for my domain name and hosting services for my website

- my time spent online: priceless :+

I used to pay for ads on a few more websites, which didn't bring the expected business and which I canceled. I do not mind paying for a website that brings me customers and so far Hooboy's/Daddy's website (both the Review section and the Message Center) has been the leader. So, were do I send the check?

A friend of mine "in the business" claims that the ratio of replys/business from various ad sites, varies from season to season.

For example, ads on men4rent might be very productive during the holiday season i.e. summer and then drop off drastically come Oct/Nov.

The whole thing sounds like a crap shoot to me. But I donn't think escorts should be cheap about their advertising. You could advertise for months on one site and get almost no business. Then all of a sudden it will pull in one client who really gets of on you and becomes a weekly regular - and he might recommend you to several of his friends. It could turn into a gold mine. You just never know.

>Hi Pwit,

Probably the best € 29,69 you spend each year!

>Somehow I don't consider a website advertising.

advertising or marketing, it is all in the same category.

oh...btw, you still have a couple weeks left in the year to add some 2007 picks to your picture area. :+

OK, I'm a client, not an escort, so maybe I should not post here, but maybe it's useful for escorts to know where clients are looking to find them. For me, the number one source is this site, and I am especially interested to meet guys who post a lot on the message board and sound like intelligent, interesting people. Intelligent, interesting people are more fun sexually, in my experience, than hot-looking dunces.... Which means that in terms of attracting my attention, an escort does not have to spend ANYTHING on advertising. (Anton's comment is correct - while vacationing in Amsterdam once, I hooked up with him, precisely because I had been attracted by his postings on this site.)

Next after this is rentboy.com, which I especially like for the feature that indicates whether somebody is on-line. Since NYC, where I am located, usually has more than 300 rentboy listings at any given time, I will do a search of who is on-line, and may cross-check to this site to see if they have any reviews.

In third place is men4rentnow.com, but I've found that less useful because their geographical search turns up too many guys who list NYC as a place they would travel (for some of them, "in their dreams" if a sugar daddy invited them) so there's lots of unavailable guys' ads to scroll through.

I post reviews on this site under a different screen name.
