Edging

I hope I'm not posting too much, but like I say, I've been looking for a forum like this for a while.

So, I've got a question about edging.  How many men here can do it, and what is your average edge time?  I had a roommate in college once (straight, and I wasn't out yet) and we touched on the topic of holding off cumming, and he said he wasn't able to control it.  When he has to cum, he barely knows it's about to happen before it does.  Is this more common? 

For once I'm going to hold off for replies before I reveal how it works for me
