Another private'ish joke that actually did get me thinking about other people's opinions...

So you and your client are having a lovely dinner and a quiet, private, and alas slightly trendy restaurant. You're enjoying a lovely meal on delightful patio and two good friends (who don't know about your extra-curricular activities) walk up and are getting a table a few feet away from you.

Discretion is as important for escorts as it is for clients. PDA is obviously never an expectation for clients so it's not typically an issue. Introductions would be a tad awkward so upon seeing them I merely apologized to my client for diverting attention for a moment and said hello.

Dinner continued with no interruptions. The best defense has always been a good offense in my opinion; so as we were getting ready to leave I excused myself for about thirty seconds to say goodbye to them and exchange pleasantries.

To me, I dont think walking out without acknowledging them would have been smart and introducing the gentleman wouldn't have been fair to either of us.

What do other people think? What would be a better way to handle the situation if it came up for you?

It sounds like you handled it well. I would have just said a friendly hell and gone on with my meal.

I'll never forget the time I went on a date with a client and we went to a comedy club before going back to the hotel. The comic was joking around and initially asked my date if he was my grandfather. My client replied, "no". The comic then asked if it was some kind of wierd internet date. My client replied, "something like that".

I about DIED! Every eye in that place turned. Ugh, that was not a nice moment, haha.
