The place is always clean, fresh linens, warm rooms, friendly staff and is easily far above any Rentmasseur $250 / hr massage or competitors close by. I consistently get a great massage by Jay, Jose, and Shane. DM me for any other recommendations. HungreeMunkee69 1
dreamboy13 Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Does anyone have an updated link? It only goes so far for me on one of the older ones I found. Doesn’t show all masseurs. TY!

There used to be an older 27th Street location at the other end of the block on the south side, which is what I'm pretty sure he is referencing. Not the current site.

BecauseISaidSo Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 Now that I'm being accused of lying over on the general thread, let me cut and paste my 27 Men Spa review over here since this thread is more about the specific place. I'll delete the bottom of my original post because it mentions a different spa and different therapist, irrelevant here. Yura, if you're reading this, can you just ask Noah if he used gloves on any client this week (I was there Tuesday afternoon)? Maybe there's a reason...or if he doesn't admit to it, at least he'll know not to keep doing it! Original post: Thanks to all for the great info on this site...I finally decided to join and contribute! I randomly stopped into Spa 27 yesterday, where I'd never been, and asked for a one hour massage. I was happy to take anyone available since the reviews on here have been relatively strong. So I got Noah and went back to the nice room. I started face down, and it felt a little strange but I couldn't quite figure out why, but nice enough. After about 10 minutes, he was massaging my shoulders so his hands were close to my ears, and I realized as a heard like a crinkling sound that he had on latex gloves! I popped my head up to ask if that was the case, and he said yes. I asked him to please take them off. He said he wouldn't. I asked if there was any other therapist there who would massage with their bare hands, and he said most of them always use gloves. He then added that if I were to check most spas around the world, that most male therapists use gloves. WHAAAA?? I obviously knew that was crap since I have had a ton of massages in a ton of countries. The only other time I've had a therapist use gloves was years ago with a female therapist and when I asked her about it, she said she was worried about getting HIV (I'm not kidding). So like that previous experience, I immediately stopped the massage. He wiped off the oil from my back, and I paid for 30 minutes. I was pretty shocked and appalled, and told him that they should at least say something to clients so we can choose whether that's what we want. Are the rest of you on here actually getting massages with them wearing latex gloves?? If so, stop that! That's never happened to me at any other place in NYC. Jackus 1
BrklynNYC Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 Has anyone tried Alex at 27 Spa? Pm me if you prefer. Thanks!

That said, while it is the prerogative of the massage provider how to conduct the session, as a paying customer, the least he could have done was let you know upfront if he wanted to to wear latex gloves during the massage.
JayinHKNYC Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 I think one reason for some readers' disbelief or suspicion is the comment that "Noah said everyone there wears gloves". As a couple of people have suggested, Noah might have had something on his hand, which admittedly he should have disclosed, but was the client's skin 100% pristine? A friend of mine who is a masseur faced many clients who had an acne/psoriasis type condition or had not showered. Assuming none of that is the case, if you know Yura's name and call him out, it's over 24 hours later... why did you not call Yura today, get an answer and report it back to everyone? Many of us have called Ben over the years and received a rapid response to clear up a problem. BrklynNYC, urbanfetish and Jackus 3

I also don't know any doctor who examines a patient without gloves on. It's impossible to know the details of a circumstance that happened in private. We can easily guess for 20 more pages. Even highly trained, licensed massage therapists are not trained to identify every skin condition. Some of you should Google "contagious skin conditions." I had a rash once near my ankle, after flying home from a trip abroad, that several doctors could not diagnose. I first went to a local clinic, and the entire staff came to look at my rash because everyone there was baffled. Of course all those initial doctors wanted to believe it was some version of lyme. Turns out they were all wrong. Many of you guys think it's normal, safe or even "healthy" to get bare-handed HE massages from someone who does this work by the hour. That's a lot of bodily fluids, in a dimly lit space, washing across a lot of bare skin of strangers. How well does each provider take care of himself? To each his own on taking risks. How "ridiculous" is it for a service provider to not wear gloves? JayinHKNYC 1
