I recently hired an escort for the first time and have a few questions.

Is tipping expected/appropriate?

The escort stayed for 2.5 hours (we had a great time) and I paid him 3 full hours ($600). The overnight rate was $1,000 (10 hrs). I would have liked him to stay but got a hint that he needed to be somewhere in the morning. Did I overpay? Should I've negotiated for first hour and subsequent hours? I didn't cause I had a great time and didn't want to risk spoilng it with money issue. That's why I want to know for next time.

Is it OK to contact escort just to say hi and make an appointment? Since we're in different cities.

The money, I've read that some guys place it in an envelope on a table, etc. It feels weird just handing it cash. What's the preferred thing to do?

Thanks!!

Talk about a loaded question. Once again you are going to get answers all over the board on this one but here is my two cents worth.

Tipping is generally only expected for agency escorts. For independent escorts, tipping is always appreciated but not expected.

I don't think you overpaid the escort. You had a great time so stop worrying about the money and enjoy what you had.

And I do not recommend "negotiating" fees with escort unless its for a weekend or travel is involved. I hate someone telling me that I sound expensive so would I cut my rate by half. Some say that there is no harm in asking but I disagree. I've had potential clients try to low-ball and I've turned down the appointment. But you should question the escort about his fee structure - but do it before your meeting. Asking if he has rates for longer sessions upfront is totally appropriate. The difference being "inquiring" rather than "negotiating". After the first hour, most escorts do charge by the half hour.

And if you would like the escort to stay all night, ask him. If he can't, he'll tell you. I'm not a big fan of the envelope approach for payment. If you do not feel comfortable with handing him the money directly - which probably is the preferred way - place it on a table or next to his belongings.

Bottom line - get the money issue out of the way by lots of communication up front. The money issue can dampen the event so deal with it straight on. Remember, the escort also is somewhat uneasy about the money issue.

>Is tipping expected/appropriate?

I don't expect a tip, but it is always nice to get one. Like any service, if you're satisfied with it and want to tip, I'd say do it.

>Did I overpay?

I don't think you did. You just gave him a generous tip. However, I don't think you should feel obliged to give the escort more money just because he stayed longer. It was his decision. Now if you asked, then I would expect some compensation.

>Should I've negotiated for first hour and subsequent hours?

Honestly, I think it is tacky to negotiate. You either accept what the escort charges or not. That's my opinion. I think it is up to the escort to, depending on the situation/conversation, give the client a better deal.

I think it is ok to say hi every now and then, I don't mind. I say hi to my regulars every now and then just to see how they're doing. Especially if you're saying hi to make an appointment.

I personally don't care. On the table, in an envelope...I have a client who puts it inside a greeting card. I think it's cute. I always look forward to the next card.
