The concert hall at Sydney Opera House has just finished a two-year refurbishment. To mark the occasion, and to celebrate its 90th anniversary, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra performed a gala concert. Last night the concert was broadcast on ABC TV (it's also the ABC's 90th).

The concert opened with the premier of Of the Earth by indigenous composer (and didgeridoo player) William Barton. The balance of the concert consisted of an epic performance of Mahler's Resurrection Symphony, Symphony No 2. The reviews have been very good.
