So the Broadway crowd got together last night at the Gershwin Theater in Manhattan to raise money for a bunch of LGBT political organizations that are fighting the good fight on marriage equality. It was all volunteers, and it was many names you would recognize from the top musical shows on Broadway. It was almost as long as the Oscars (started about 8:15 and ran to midnight) but tons more fabulous -- c'mon, Nathan Lane as Jesus Christ? But what was most fabulous was the audience - there is a special thrill being in a large public place (the Gershwin is HUGE among Broadway houses) that is packed and most of the audience is gay - the in-jokes running rampant up on the stage of course. And folks like Jane Fonda and Cindy Lauper and Stephen Schwartz and Carson Kressley and ALL the chorus boys currently working on Broadway and.....

Something special indeed.

I couldn't agree more. Entertaining AND inspiring. A night for all - gay or straight - who believe in equal opportunities and rights for all.

Now if only I could find a copy of Seth Rudetsky's (sp?) video of the Brady Bunch Variety Show - could it be any more awful/fascinating/fabulous?
