Met Opera HD Live

This afternoon, having a bad case of cabin fever, I decided to take myself off for an afternoon movie. I'd already seen all the "good stuff" so was happy to see a performance of Gluck's "Orfeo ed Euridice" at a local movie theater. I knew the music but had never seen a live performance or one of these Met Opera HD shows.

 

The theater was packed. I was happily amazed there were so many opera lovers out on a cold Saturday afternoon. I had to sit in the first row but it was worth it. A gorgeous production directed by Mark Morris, beautifully sung by Stephanie Blythe as Orfeo and the stunning Danielle de Niese as Euridice.

 

A nice, easy and inexpensive way to enjoy opera.

Thanks very much for the tip! Hadn't heard of the Met's HD performances before. This one was at 10:00AM in the Bay Area, so I missed it. There's an encore scheduled for February 4th at 7:00PM, and I'm looking forward to it.
