Spas in NYC

I had a good experience with this guy. He asked me if I’m a good tipper. I tipped 50 percent and he got angry. I thought he was going to follow me out on the sidewalk. That’s enough for me.

Are those his real pics on the profile?

I'm a bit confused. Did you see this guy, Hero, at a spa, or at his place in Hell's Kitchen? He advertises a massage for only $55. If I had a good experience with him, I'd give him $100, which is almost a $100 tip. (Not that he should get angry with any client.)

I like his body, though!!

Hi everyone,

Great thread. Just officially joined. I’ve had a few good massages in NYC, but I’m looking for a more sensual/tantric masseur - any recommendations? I’m not a huge fan of deep tissue/harder massages, I prefer the more relaxing and light massages with gentle strokes. Feel free to PM.

Thanks!

People when the price is dirt cheap, you can't go by a percentage to determine what is a "good" tip. Especially if you are going at off-peak hours and the rate is even less. These therapists are doing more actual work than a lot of escorts do and you can't expect a $30 or $40 tip is going to be received well if they went above and beyond. They could make more money on the street than what a couple of you guys here seem to think is a good tip.

Please tell me where someone can make more than $40 per hour on the street.

I don’t consider an angry masseur a “good experience”. So who did you actually see, it wasn’t the guy in the MF ad?

Tipping is subjective and personal. If by “good” you mean a decent spa hour massage and a standard satisfying departure, I would tip 40-50%. If you mean that you left with a shit-eating grin and the next session booked, I’d tip 100% and up on a $60 hour spa massage which is still under a private masseur rate.

All that said, if a masseur asks if I’m a good tipper, the session is over for me.

Going to need some help. Have a bad back so I don’t want a strong massage in any capacity. Looking for maybe a table shower and then VERY sensual stress relieving soft massage that will leave me happy. Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you so much.

I’m in the same/similar boat. I have knots on my upper back that need a real massage but also looking for a sensual and relaxing time.

I normally go to time square Men’s spa but after all of the raving reviews, I’m leaning toward booking an appointment at Shangrila. is there reccs that would be a good fit for what I’m looking for? Trying to shoot for an appointment this week. Pm me for reccs and any details. Thanks for the help in advance!

I posted about a similar situation a few months back at Hey Man where the guy in the middle of the massage asked if I was going to tip him really well! It totally turned me off too and have never gone back. I did not give a good tip and I told them why.

Energy Men Spa on 23rd has table shower and most Masseurs are not going to do extra work (e.g., a hard massage). They will rub and tug.

minimum wage just went up to $15 NYC, YOU STILL AHVE TO PAY TAX ON THAT $15. some masseurs are greedy , %160-$200 an hour is pretty darn good , I know some you guys on the forum has lots of money which you would like to spend, some people just want some fun with the money they have !

I'm talking about the guys who went to a place where the charge was like $60, they received something above and beyond a massage, and think their $20 tip was good. $20 is a good tip on a $60 massage that is just a massage. For other stuff, you should be paying considerably more.

How could you have a good overall experience if you perceive that person is going to act out violently? He may have been expecting a 60% tip I know when they gave me that line and I would just say how much. Plus the establishment already gave you a discount to knock it down to the $60 price I pretty sure the regular price was somewhere around $100 and they gave a 40-50% discount depending on what time you came in.

Is this ad for New Hero Spa I wonder?

https://rentmasseur.com/Hero

I remember the face pic on the ad from Craigslist many years ago...

I maybe wrong but wasn't he one of their more popular masseur named Jack or was that the long haired guy. I forget have not been there for years.

This goes back to the old question of - if the value of something is greater than the price is, they should charge more. I agree that a $20 tip is bare minimum, but people who lecture that a tip should be 100% (or $60) or more are also over-tipping in my mind. But that’s their right just as it is someone’s right to tip $20-30.

It isn’t a “discount” it’s what the market will bear. That’s the glory of a free market. If they want $100 but need to discount to get customers, then the discount price is actually the right price (at least at that moment).

No one in business reduces price out of the kindness of their heart.

First of all, when you pay $60 for a massage, the masseur gets 1/3 of it. They depend on tips.

Second of all, you guys are saying "$40 an hour" is more than they can make on the street or waiting on tables. You need to remember that these guys don't work an 8-hour day. You make it sound like they make $320 a day.

Third, if a masseur ever asked me for a tip -- during the massage, no less! -- I'd complain to management, and that guy's sorry ass would be on the street real fast.

Last, and many of you may disagree, if I spend $60 for a massage, and I tip $60 (which I do at Utopia), I'm spending $120, which is probably less than I'd spend with one of my non-spa masseurs. If the experience is good, I don't mind spending $120. I go to Utopia to enjoy myself, not for a bargain.

Hmm... what the market could bare?!? You may very well be right but I find it pretty unlikely they were giving "discounts" because they thought demand would lessen. I find it much more likely that it was their way of telling their patrons at least the minimum required for the HE.
