I think that is just awful. It gives people

the false belief they can avoid HIV without

changing their risky behaviour. Not the

case. This is not a minor operation for

adults and is totally a bad idea. Why

not amputate everything? That would

certainly lower HIV rates in a hurry.

By minor, I guess that it is an outpatient procedure,

despite being bloody, painful and not without risk.

Most men apparently still need a week off from work

after getting one.


Still, it seems unnecessary and also highly unethical

to put someone through all that and then give them a

false sense of security. It seems idiotic and also

highly patronizing to push an unnecessary and risky

surgery over simply taking the time to educate

and inform a population about disease prevention.
