Hi,

general question. A masseur I’m thinking of using said in a message that he would need to rent a hotel room for the session.

Is that a legit thing? Sounds super sketchy to me but I’m new at this.

feedback appreciated.

Hmm. Doesn’t seem weird but not the norm.

I cannot imagine a local masseur getting a hotel room for every session without passing those costs onto the client.

Is this a traveling masseur or local? Most local guys can find/rent space at a spa for much less than a hotel room...

This raises a red flag for me. Every masseur I've ever used in NYC has his own space or, if not, has a shared office/rents space weekly or monthly specifically for his work. Renting a hotel room every time he books a massage is not standard practice, though I've heard of this for escorts.

He also just informed me that he doesn’t travel with his table. On the bed ??

Why would you bother to do this? There are plenty of masseurs in NYC and most have their own space. Or they can come to you.

This seems weird. I assume you ask because he wants you to pay upfront for the room cost. If so:

a.) Worst case scenario: You send money and never hear from this person again.

b.) Best case scenario: You spend extra cash that you wouldn't need to spend with 99% of the other guys.

BIG red flag. Never heard this suggestion before, ever.

Indeed. Just told him I’m passing. Original gut feeling of being sketchy was right and all your confirmations. Thanks!
