Happened to me earlier this year.

 

Maybe it's because I don't travel, but I find it something of a hassle. You get a lot of views, but the attention brings a lot of people who reach out to you with no interest or ability to meet.

I agree it invites a lot of lookie-loos, but turning those eyes into click-throughs (Twitter, IG, OF, etc) can be a very smart way to make the situation work to your advantage.
