trying to maintain friendship when you hate their spouse

I have been fortunate over the last couple of weeks to have a couple of people from my past who I had no idea what they were doing get back in touch. Amazing sometimes what a pandemic can do. Naturally, a great deal of talk is catching up on mutual people that we knew, and what those people may be doing now.

 

One of the people I stopped contacting was because I thought their mate was a really lousy individual. He gets pleasure out of putting people down, but using my friend's social media. He has social media of his own, but chooses not to use it. My friend was a clean cut nice guy when I knew him way back when, but since has gone the tattoos all over the body route, and hangs out with the "rough crowd", drinking like a fish and posting politically insulting stuff putting down Liberals, which is 180 degrees what he was like before getting into the tax return filing business after we no longer stayed in touch.

 

I understand that over time, people change, and sometimes that change can be extremely drastic. I have no interest in getting tattoos, drinking, or being a Conservative, so I have to accept that there are going to be people in this World who have zero interest in "going back to liking OLD friends".
