I posted a question in the escort area wondering about good escorts in New Orleans. What about places to stay, anyone stay at the Bourbon Orleans before? Other suggestions. Also, bar life, last year I found it sort of dead; any one place better than another, looking for one that is more cruisy particularly me older looking for younger? Always appreciate your help. Will be in NO starting January 18, Rocky

I was in NOLA last September after Southern Decadence, and enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Monteleone. The gay bars were very dead.

I met up with two good escorts, but both left the Big Easy a few weeks later. I know that several escorts visited New Orleans during Southern Decadence. Hopefully, many will visit during your Mardi Gras trip.

I had a good time at the Corner Pocket - stripper bar. The younger patrons were friendlier, than those at the gay bars along Bourbon Street.

Corner Pocket is a good place for older looking for younger crowd.

Cafe Lafitte's in Exile is also a spot likely to work for you.

It is kinda the slow season gearing up for Mardi Gras at the end of the month so not sure how busy things will be.

Places to stay:

Depending on your budget, a few places to check out that are located with convenient access to the gay area of the French Quarter.

Hotel BOURBON ORLEANS is atop the Napoleon's Itch bar (which is cruisy but more sophisticated and NON SMOKING) and has luxury accomodations that are quite nice. Also places you right in the middle of everything on Bourbon st. I have friends who've stayed there and recommend it highly.

HOTEL MONTELEONE is also nice as mentioned already.

HOTEL ROYAL SONESTA

I usually stick to simpler accomodations and save money for liquor.

HOTEL ST MARIE

HOTEL ST PIERRE

or look into one of the B&Bs nearby.

But if I had my druthers and were going there now, I'd put Bourbon Orleans at the top of my list.

Have fun.

The Bourbon Pub and OZ are probably the most popular bars for the younger crowd. All of the bars in New Orleans are very cruisey. It tends to be a relatively quiet town outside of a few major holidays (Decadence, Mardi Gras, Halloween, the Superbowl, etc.)

I travel back and forth between NY and NO and will be happy to show you around if we're there at the same time.
