Thirty years ago today, Keith Haring passed away (February 16, 1990), of AIDS-related complications. His pop art and graffiti-like work grew out of the New York City street culture of the 1980s.

One of my favorite artists. His work still remains fresh and vibrant. The avatar I use is from an original picture of his I own. It is titled “Fighting AIDS”.

Haring took the best ideology of Warhol's Factory model and continued to make art that spoke to people on a wide variety of levels.
