For some reason, the New York Times was just about the only place to miss the memo, crediting most of the album’s success to Bill Evans and asserting that Coltrane and Adderley were ill-suited to the project

 

I'm not going to lie, I was very late coming to appreciate this album. I was not able to understand it when I was younger, so left it alone for may decades. But when I came back to it, wow, I understood what almost everyone was talking about from day one.
