Germany: Gay conversion 'therapy' ban presented

"Homosexuality is not a disease and does not require treatment," said Health Minister Jens Spahn. In Germany, there are an estimated 1,000 attempts a year to change the sexual orientation of gay people, say critics.

One of the activists who worked to make the case for the ban is also an outstanding escort. I have gotten to know James over the past couple years. Not only is he great at his job, he is a courageous and outspoken person who is sharing his experiences in order to help others. Bravo James!

Before meeting James I thought the same thing. Conversion therapy is still legal in the majority of U.S. states. It should be recognized for what it really is - child abuse.

I personally went through years of what many critics would call "gay conversion therapy" (obviously it didn't work) but not many therapists if any do true gay conversion therapy (at least in the US) where there is electrical shocks and whatever else and they force some sort of conversion or do prayer meetings to drive out demons...in my experience the orientation piece was hardly brought up (yes I was told it was still a sin) but it was more about a religious experience so to speak.

James/Virgil is great. Just met him recently when was in Denver last week. We met last winter in Denver as well, because he actually testified in Denver to support a gay conversion therapy ban for minors. He is such a great advocate for this issue and his personal story so powerfully shows why gay conversion is harmful and should be made illegal.

Associated Press

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - A South Carolina man who founded one of the nation's biggest conversion therapy ministries has something to say: he's gay.

The Post and Courier reports Hope for Wholeness founder McKrae Game came out of the closet this summer, nearly two years after he was fired from the faith-based conversion therapy program. He's now trying to come to terms with the harm he inflicted when he was advocating for religious efforts to change a person's sexuality.

“Conversion therapy is not just a lie, but it’s very harmful,” Game told The Post and Courier. “Because it’s false advertising.”

I'm sure the people who fired him will just say he didn't pray hard enough...

I'm shocked. He was closeted? Wow. Next thing you know it'll be Michelle Bachmann's husband.

It took him twenty years to figure out what any Democrat could have told him in five minutes, the more zealously anti-gay person in public, the more secretly gay in private.

Someday, even Michelle Bachmann's husband is going to fail to surprise us by opening that closet door.

I doubt it. I believe he was getting either state money of federal money to run those centers? If so he is just a hustler(no pun intended) . If the money is good, he would probably run a gay brothel!

Allow me to correct your statement.

“It took him twenty years to figure out what any reasonable person could have told him in five minutes.” ?
