Mann won a Nobel Prize in 1929 for Buddenbrooks and his short stories.

 

Some people read his short stories first, especially Death in Venice.

 

Once I remembered the main characters, which are mostly introduced in the first fifty pages, I feel cheated if can't read more every day.
