I remember seeing this as a kid and enjoying it. I wasn't a huge fan of ballet at that point and the physical production was just flashy enough to keep me engaged. It helped me begin to really enjoy the medium.

 

That said, I feel like this production is now in the same category as Julie Taymor's The Magic Flute: At one point groundbreaking, but now trotted out as an 'old favorite' (that clearly sells) when they don't really know what else to do. Unless this Swan is vastly different from the various Bourne versions that have been floating around since 1995, I don't know if I'd race to go see it.

 

Just my opinionated opinion ;)

IMO (another opinionated opinion) Bourne and his company are near genius.

They "trot" this production out because there is a demand by audiences to see it, and because it makes money, which is what makes the world go round.

 

Oh well, Ben, I'm sad that you won't be there.....
