There is a publicly funded radio station here in Seattle that is ran by the Seattle public schools and is ran mostly by the students. This is a great program that the school offers because not only do they play some great music but it offers to give the students in the program an opportunity to learn a trade. Right now they are doing a pledge drive and are well on their way of making their goal but every little penny adds to the pot. I'd like to encourage those of you here on the board to offer up a little something to help these kids on the air and help them in their future careers be it radio or any other kind of media. You can go and check it out at http://www.c895fm.com You can listen to them on the radio or via the internet.

Hugs,

Greg

This is a Seattle radio station providing dance music. I tried to find more about it at charitynavigator.com because I like to know how much of my donation goes to the fundraisers for administrative costs but I couldn't find anything on this group.

But supporting kids should be easy as across the world there are many needy organizations that would love your donation. Some might say that a better purpose could be found that subsidizing a dance music station, but whatever floats your boat enough to open your wallet is a good thing.

My nephews are selling raffle tickets for their baseball team...that cost me $50 alone!

From what they said on the radio the non student dj's volunteer their time. But the cost of new equipment isn't cheap espicially with the required roll out of digital music. I guess supporting dance music should come in a very distant second and the funding of the program helping kids gain a valuable trade should come first. This isn't a flash in the program program. The station has been on the air for over 30 years, 37 years if memory is correct.

Greg
