I hope that you find this useful...

I am fortunate that I visit Taipei and Hong Kong twice year for work and have found the below resources informative although lengthy:

Both Hong Kong and Taipei feature spas where you can hire from their staff of massage therapists (called "trainers"). The links above also feature information about the atmosphere, price, and what to expect at various saunas. (The most highly recommended are Hutong in Hong Kong and Aniki Wow and Soi 13 in Taipei).

From my personal experience, I can recommend a 4-hand massage from Charles and Stanley at Wizspa in Hong Kong (https://www.wizspahk.com). They have perfected the 4-hand massage, where it is completely choreographed and done with great skill. Charles is more amiable and conversational than Stanley. He has a nicely muscled body. Stanley left the room at the end, and Charles finished the massage with a HE and proceeded to join me in the shower to wash off the massage oil. In Hong Kong, the spas are not allow to show pictures of their masseurs.

Hutong Sauna has enjoyed the reputation of having the most attractive crowd for the last 4 to 5 years. There is supposedly a discretionary admission policy, decided by the owner who mans the door camera. It is primarily an Asian crowd, although the last time that I went, I did see 2 caucasians and 1 black gentleman. The open showers, sauna rooms, and plunging hot tub seem to be where you relax when you are not participating in the main event which is a dark maze with a couple of playrooms. Very busy after dinner on Fridays and Saturdays.

Royal Spa seems to be the gold standard in Taipei (http://www.theroyalspa.com.tw/en/d.htm). You can peruse the profiles with pictures of their massage staff. I had a nice session with Umu who was slight but handsome and gave a strong massage. Towards the end of the massage, I asked for him to remove his shorts which he obliged and allowed MT. All massages in Asia seem to end happily.

In addition to saunas and spas, Taiwan offers outdoor hot springs in nearby Beitou. Read up on the message forums if you are interested as to which one to go to.

Do you tip at these places? I was told no but trying to see what others do.

I went to a spa in Shanghai and the manager told me “no matter what, do not tip”. Let me start by saying I am in the camp of never wanting to tip especially when I’m told not to. Now fast forward 90 minutes after one of the most amazing experiences of my life, and you better believe I still tipped. I think I was even more prone to because I was told not to.
