Try "Numbers" on Santa Monica Blvd in West Hollywood. It's a high classs Huster bar serving, I am told, really good food. Good luck.

And it may soon qualify for landmark status (even in its new location)--being the last remaining high-end hustler bar in North America. (Or are there some piss-elegant supper clubs around South Beach?)

 

As for LA's low-end establishments, I hear that Hunters just closed, forcing even the most timid rough trade fanciers to brave the Spolight--the very nadir of the low/high scale, still located near the once-thriving meat market that was Selma Avenue.

It's in a new location? Sorry, I am new to LA (2 years), Skeptic, where did it used to be, and how is it different now, or isn't it? Always been curious about that place that is only 1/2 block from my apartment.

It used to be up on Sunset, but moved down to Santa Monica a while ago. I forget exactly when, but I think about a year ago. Something else was in that location prior to Numbers and it looked almost the same from the street.

 

The food is good -- it's better than most other restaurants in that neighborhood, including Cafe d'Etoile, which I like. (I have to admit being hooked on Koo Koo Roo's original chicken breast sandwiches, but I don't think that's a fair comparison. :-) ) I've only eaten at Numbers two or three times, but I thought the quality of the food and the service was quite both times.

 

The construction on Santa Monica has reduced foot traffic somewhat and I understand it has hurt Numbers' business. While I hardly ever go there, I hope they survive.

 

If you live only a half block away, you should stop being curious and go check it out.

When I went there for dinner, the lounge area looked like any other gay bar, lots of different types of men standing around checking each other out, talking, drinking, laughing. It was so much fun. Of course, the hustlers look fabulous and hunky, so you, Rod, would fit right in.

 

The dining area is situated so that all of that activity is in full view.
