Anyone know what it means when someone texting or messaging via app (like Grindr) sends a symbol that looks like a pause button?

 

Something like [][]

 

Or even

 

I know it resembles a pause button... but dont quite understand in that context.

 

Is it a symbolic way of saying "not interested?" Or that the user is stepping away from phone - pausing? Or???.

That could be a error and you cant see the emoticons or image they send to you

Each of those bars could be a emoticon, ask if he/she send you emoticons because for some reason youre not able to see them
